Obituary for Howard Allen Coffman

ROCKVILLE- Howard Allen Coffman, 75, of Rockville, Indiana passed away at 7:40 pm Saturday, December 16, 2017 in the emergency room of Union Hospital Clinton.

He was a retired mechanic and machinist having worked for Cory Farm Equipment in Bellmore, Lewis Equipment and Michael Sales Company both in Rockville and later a Ford Lincoln Mercury dealership.

He was born November 17, 1942 in Allerton, Illinois to the late Lee Coffman and Claudine Coy Coffman.

Survivors include his wife, M. Janie Coffman whom he married June of 1975; also surviving, two sons, Randy Coffman of Villa Grove, Illinois and Rusty Coffman of Bloomingdale; two step-daughters, Victoria Butler Voland of Knob Noster, Missouri and Glenda Butler Sullivan of Knoxville, Tennessee; three brothers, Dick Coffman of Oakland, Illinois, Ronald Coffman and Rodney Coffman both of Waveland; six grandchildren, Alexis, Zachary, Quentin, Jared and Seth Sullivan and Kiona Voland; one great-granddaughter, Kimmi.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Coffman and four sisters, Wilma Kitson, Alma Duckworth, Betty Watkins and Janie Thomas and a step daughter, Christine Allison.

He was a 1961 graduate of Turkey Run High School. He was drafted into the Army in 1966 during the Vietnam War serving in Germany with the 3rd armor division artillery. He was a member of the Freedom Baptist Church in Waveland, a life member of AMVETS post 61 and life member and Past Commander of Veterans of Foreign Ward Paul Taylor Post 1752 where he also served as finance officer, Past Commander of American Legion Fellenzer post 48 serving also finance officer. He was also a member of Parke County Veterans Council. He enjoyed restoring antique tractors.

Graveside services with military honors by Parke County Veterans will be held at Portland Mills Cemetery at a later date.

Memorials should friends so desire, may be to any Parke County Veterans organization in his memory. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Gooch Funeral Home, Rockville.
