Obituary for Billy Franklin Norton

Billy Franklin Norton, 75, of Gainesville, Florida passed away July 7, 2017 after a brief battle with lung cancer.

Bill was born and raised in Parke County to the late Harold and Marie Norton. He graduated from Turkey Run in 1960 and served in the United States Army from 1962-1965. He was a carpet installer and later became a salesman in the carpet business.

He was loved and remembered by his companion Polly for over forty years. He leaves behind step-daughters, Debbie Lentz of Florida and Lisa Butler of Kentucky; a son, Shawn Norton of Florida; along with six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; sisters Ann Eggleston of Rockville, Edie (Jack) Guyder and Elva Van Hook of Mooresville. He will be missed by many adoring nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Harold (Butch) Norton; and brother-in- laws Groff Eggleston and Gene Van Hook.

Inurnment with military honors by Parke County Veterans will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 26 at Poplar Grove Cemetery in Marshall. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in Marshall Federated Church with Pastor Raymond Byrne officiating.
