Obituary for Imogene E Rahn

ROCKVILLE- Imogene E. Rahn, 94, of Rockville, Indiana passed away at 3:49 am Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at Mill Pond Health Campus in Greencastle.

She was the retired clerk treasurer for the town of Rockville with 24 years of service and was formerly the deputy assessor and deputy clerk for Parke County.

She was born October 31, 1924 in Broadlands, Illinois to the late Gustav Windler and Agnes Wienke Windler. Her husband of 42 years, John A. “Bud” Rahn whom she married December 25, 1942 in Tuscola, Illinois preceded her in death October 12, 1985.

Survivors include three sons, James A. “Jim” (Paula) Rahn of Rockville, Jack A. (Connie) Rahn of Waveland and Joseph A. Rahn of Rockville; one daughter, J. Sue (Doug) Berry of Rockville; son-in-law, Dennis R. Maxwell of Crawfordsville; one brother, Dennis (Janet) Windler of Woodstock, Illinois; nine grandchildren, Gina Sunderman, Rob Maxwell, Amy Crane, Steve Runyan, Quintin Rahn, Dustin Rahn, J.D. Berry, Jill Helderman and Anna Lorenze; 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; She was preceded in death by an infant daughter in 1943 and daughter, Jane Maxwell.

She was a graduate of Villa Grove (IL) High School. She was an active member of the Rockville First United Methodist Church, chancellor choir, United Methodist women, and a teacher for Wesley Sunday school class. She was also a member of Parke County Choral Club, Parke County Republican women, Republican Precinct Committee-person for many years and Parke County Extension Homemakers Club. She helped with the Buried Beef during the Covered Bridge Festival to raise funds for the rebuilding of the Marshall Federated Church during the 1960’s. Services will be 1:00 pm Thursday, August 15, at Gooch Funeral Home, 112 W. Howard Street, Rockville, with Pastor Brian Holt officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Garden Cemetery in Rockville. Visitation is from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm Thursday at Gooch Funeral Home.
