Obituary for Virginia Lee Starna

Virginia Lee (Thomas) Starna passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at the home she shared with her daughter and son-in-law in Gastonia, NC. She was born January 25, 1924 in Terre Haute, IN.  

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, John H. and Aeta Hopper Thomas and her husband, Robert A. Starna who passed in 1974. She is survived by her daughters, Roberta Starna Potter of Gastonia, NC and Norita Sue Starna of Florida and son-in-law Richard Potter of Gastonia, grandchildren, Raena Farrington, Gina (Jason) Church, Davin (Emily) Forsberg and Jared O'Neal (Caitlin) and eleven great grandchildren.

Throughout her long life, Virginia was involved in her community and The Community Bible Church and upon moving to Florida in the early 80's continued her devotion to Sara Bay Baptist Church. She moved to North Carolina in the summer of 2017 with her daughter and son-in-law residing there until her death.

 
Virginia was involved in many clubs, quilting, cooking and devoted to her family and friends throughout her beautiful years.

Virginia requested cremation and burial in the family plot next to her husband at Friend's Chapel Cemetery, Scotland, IL. Celebration of Life will be held at Friend's Chapel on June 23, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. Illinois time and 12:00 P.M. Indiana time, with burial to follow at Starna family plot.

Arrangements entrusted to the care of Overpeck-Gooch Funeral Home, Dana.
