Obituary for Minnie Frances Michki

OBITUARY: MINNIE F. WELLS SEWARD MICHKI

Minnie Frances (Wells) Seward Michki, 94, of Frankfort, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at Wesley Manor in Frankfort, IN. Minnie was born on December 13, 1922, in Greencastle, IN, to Herbert Oscar Wells and Estella Clara (Miller) Wells. She lived most of her life in Parke County in the Bellmore, IN, area and later in the Marshall, IN, area before moving to Frankfort, IN, in Nov 2005 to be closer to her daughters and their families.

On December 28, 2014, Minnie fell in her home and broke both of her femurs. They eventually healed, but she never regained full strength in her legs. For almost three years, she resided at Wesley Manor in Frankfort, IN.

She was preceded in death by her parents & nine siblings: John Wells, Lucille Black, Elmer Wells, Opal Mann, Albert Wells, Eldon Wells, Olma Cox, Kenneth Alan Wells, Olus Hutcheson, and she was the youngest of the 10 children; her first husband, Wm. Everett Seward, (1917-62) whom she married on May 18, 1941, and her second husband William Michki, (1927-87) whom she married on June 21, 1975. Minnie was a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother, who ALWAYS put her family first. We always told her she was the BEST Mother in the whole wide world, and that we were so lucky to be able to call her our Mother. She will be greatly missed. Her Great Grandchildren always lovingly called her “Grandma Minnie.”

She is survived by her twin daughters: Sharon (Seward) O’Hair and husband Michael of Kokomo, IN, and Karon (Seward) McColley and husband Ronald of Frankfort, IN; four Grandchildren: Scott (Amy) O’Hair of Ellettsville, IN, Tiffany (Samuel) Parr of Russiaville, IN, Rush (Mendi) McColley of West Lafayette, IN, and Ginger (Chris) Batta of West Lafayette, IN; nine Great Grandchildren: Alexandra and Madison Parr, Kelsey and Haley O’Hair, Allison and Mallori McColley, and Carter and twins, Caroline and Cooper Batta.

Minnie graduated from Greencastle High School in 1940. She helped Everett on their farm,
worked at the Parke County Auditor’s Office, and retired from the Parke County REMC in 1982. She was a member of Otterbein UM Church, Bellmore, IN before attending St Matthew UM Church in Frankfort, IN.

Mother made the best chicken and homemade noodles, fried chicken, and apple pies. No one could make a flaky pie crust like Mother. We will all miss her so much!

We would like to thank all the dedicated nurses and staff at Wesley Manor, Frankfort, IN for all the loving care they gave to our Mother. We would also like to thank the staff of Guardian Angel Hospice Care, Kokomo, IN over the past week for all that they have done for our Mother. Should you desire, a Memorial may be made in Minnie’s name to Wesley Manor or to Guardian Angels.

The funeral will be on Friday, November 17, 2017 at 11:00 am at Gooch Funeral Home in Rockville, IN. Visitation will be between 9:00-11:00 am. Burial will immediately follow at Memory Garden Cemetery in Rockville, IN. The Reverend Ray Probasco, a close family friend of Sharon and Michael, will officiate at the funeral.
