Obituary for Emerson B. Mishler

DANA- Emerson B. Mishler, known to his friends as “Mish”, of Dana, Indiana passed away on November 11, 2017, Veterans Day. At 98, Mish was one of the oldest World War II veterans in Vermillion County, Indiana.

Mish was born February 8, 1919 in Howesville, Indiana to Cloisey and Helena Mishler. He graduated from Coalmont High School then Terre Haute Commercial College before joining the U.S. Army and serving during World War II in England, North Africa, Sicily, Sardinia, Corsica and Italy.

Mish served as a Company B 205th Quartermaster for gas supply, as well as their Company Clerk. After serving his country four years, he was honorably discharged on November 18, 1945.

Mish worked for Marathon Oil Company until his retirement on May 1, 1978.

He was a member of American Legion Post #69 of Robinson, IL, Elks Lodge#1188 of Robinson, IL, VFW #95 of Marshall, IL and Dana First Baptist Church.

He joins his parents, sister Mallola Horton and his first wife, Neva Kelley Mishler in Heaven.

Mish is survived by his wife Clarabell Adams Mishler of Dana; daughters, Sharon Beltz (Dennis) of Anderson, and Joyce LaVicka (Greg) of Addison, IL. Also step-children, Ernie Adams (Sheila) of Dana, Connie Adams of Clinton, Karen Brewer (Steve) of Clinton and Elaine Gambaiani of Clinton.

Mish leaves behind four grandchildren, Steve Beltz (Jennifer) and Doug Beltz (Cindi) of Alexandria, Ken LaVicka (Vivianne) of Miami, FL and Amanda LaVicka of Chicago, IL. Also step-grandchildren, Paul Adams (Marian) of Dana, Jason Brewer (Angie) of Clinton and Amy Murray (Jon) of Plainfield.

He has five great-grandchildren, Andrew (Sarah) Shelby, Cloe, Chase and Zach Beltz, and Addie LaVicka. Five step-grandchildren, Makenna and Morgan Adams, Jasmine Rogers, Alex Murray and Crosby Brewer.

Also surviving, sister, Fay Duncan of Coal City; brothers, Robert Mishler (Patricia) of Cathedral City , CA and Cletus Mishler (Beverly) of Greenwood.

Services will be 12 noon EST Tuesday, November 14, at Overpeck-Gooch Funeral Home of Dana, with visitation from 10 am until noon. He will be laid to rest at 2:30 pm EST at Marshall (IL) Cemetery.
