Obituary for Donna Sue Grider

Donna Sue Grider left this earthly life with all its struggles to be with Jesus and her parents at 8:01 p.m. Sunday, February 25th, just one week before her 69th birthday. “Brother” and nieces Kathy and Chris were at her side.

Donna was born March 3, 1949 in Crawfordsville to Cosby and Marie Rainwater Grider. She grew up on the family farm near Turkey Run and went to school at Grange Corner and Marshall. Donna faithfully attended Kingman Christian Church where her daddy was a deacon and her mother a Sunday school teacher. Donna enjoyed her childhood life in the country. Donna attended special education classes at several fine schools including those at Washington Elementary in Danville, Illinois where the Griders lived for a while. While in Danville they were faithful members of Second Church of Christ.

For many years Donna has resided in Terre Haute, first at Marley Ave and Bunker Hill group homes and most recently at Signature Heath Care. Donna was active in Special Olympics as a bowler and won many gold medals and trophies but her greatest joy was in her walk with the Lord giving her family and friends an example to follow. Her biggest achievement to date was her move to her heavely home this week on the Lord’s Day.

Donna leaves behind her brother Robert Lee and Marsha Thornberry Grider, one uncle, Jesse Molden of Somerset, KY; nieces Kathy (Mitch) Wikoff, Connie (Les) McCullough, Kim (James) Campbell, Christina Grider, and nephew Rob (Betty) Grider, 15 great nieces and nephews, 17 great-great nieces and nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

A celebration of Donna’s life, with much fanfare is being planned for later in the spring, when the flowers bloom.

In lieu of flowers, Memorials should friends so desire, may be made to Signature Healthcare, 3500 Maple Avenue, Terre Haute, IN 47804 for the Donna Grider Memorial projects.

Arrangements entrusted to the care of Gooch Funeral Home, Rockville. Online condolences may be shared at
